You receive a "Error 1327. Invalid Drive... " error message when you install Office 2003 (873301)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install Microsoft Office 2003, Office 2003 does not install and you receive the following error message:
Error 1327. Invalid Drive: n:\
Note The n signifies the logical drive.

When you click OK in the error message dialog box, the Office 2003 install quits, and then you receive a second error message that indicates the following:
Microsoft Office Setup did not complete successfully. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

An error occurred during the installation, and Setup was unable to complete.

Please tell Microsoft about this problem.

What data does this error report contain?
If you click the What data does this error report contain? link in the error message, you receive an error signature that is similar to the following:

CAUSE

This issue occurs when the Local Installation Source configuration contains a logical drive value for your computer that is not valid.

RESOLUTION

Before you try to install Office 2003, check to see if the MSOCache folder exists. If it exists, you must move it to the location that is specified by the LocalCacheDrive registry subkey. To do this, use the Office 2003 Local Installation Source Tool (LISTool.exe).
