You receive an error message when you try to start the Digital Image Library from Digital Image Pro 9 (873295)


The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Picture It! Digital Image Pro 2003
  • Microsoft Digital Image Pro 9
  • Microsoft Digital Image Suite 9

SYMPTOMS

When you try to start the Digital Image Library from Microsoft Digital Image Pro 9, you may receive the following error message:
Pod9.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If you view the data that is contained in the error report, you receive the following error signature information: 
   App name       App version   Module name   Module version   Offset
   --------------------------------------------------------------------
   pod9.exe       9.0.603.0     poddata.dll   9.0.730.0        00009c35

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the Digital Image Library data files (*.pod) are damaged.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Right-click Start, and then click Explore.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Folder options.
  3. Click the View tab.
  4. Click to clear the Hide extensions for known file types check box.
  5. Click to select the Show hidden files and folders check box.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Locate the following folder:

    C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Microsoft\POD\

  8. Delete the Picture.pod file.
  9. Start the Digital Image Library. This will re-create the Picture.pod file.
If the problem persists, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type appwiz.cpl, and then click OK.
  2. In Add or Remove Programs, click Microsoft Digital Image Library 9, and then click Remove.
  3. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to remove the program.
  4. Right-click Start, and then click Explore.
  5. Locate the following folder:

    C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Microsoft\POD\

  6. Rename Picture.pod file to Picture.pod.old.
  7. Insert the program installation disc for Digital Image Suite (CD1) into your CD drive or DVD drive. Press and hold down the SHIFT key when you insert the disc to prevent the program from starting automatically.
  8. Open the pip\Pod folder on the disc.
  9. Double-click the POD.msi file to reinstall Digital Image Library.
  10. After you reinstall the program, start the Digital Image Library.
