SYMPTOMS

When you print a check in Microsoft Money, the check total may appear as numbers instead of as letters as expected.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if the following conditions are true:
  • The check is written for a large amount. This issue typically occurs if the check total is more than $1,000.
  • The selected font is too large.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, change the default font in Microsoft Money and then print a test page to verify that the check amount appears as expected. To do this, follow these steps.

Microsoft Money 2005

  1. On the Tools menu, click Settings.
  2. Click the Print Checks tab, and then click Font.
  3. In the Font box, click a different font style.

    For example, if Courier New is selected, click Times New Roman or click Arial. You can also click a smaller font size in the Size box to troubleshoot this issue.
  4. Click OK two times, and then click Done.
  5. Print a test check on blank paper to verify the results.

Microsoft Money 2004 and earlier

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Print Checks tab, click Font.
  3. In the Font box, click a different font style.

    For example, if Courier New is selected, click Times New Roman or click Arial. You can also click a smaller font size in the Size box to troubleshoot this issue.
  4. Click OK two times.
  5. Print a test check on blank paper to verify the results.
