Either the custom properties or the ToolTip is missing from Visio 2003 drawing when it is opened in Internet Explorer (873219)

SYMPTOMS

After you save a Microsoft Office Visio 2003 drawing (*.vsd) that contains specific shapes as a Web page, any of the following symptoms may occur when you open the drawing in Microsoft Internet Explorer:
  • The ToolTip does not appear when you hover your mouse over the shape.
  • When you click the shape while holding the CTRL key, the custom properties do not appear for the shape in the Navigation frame.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if you use shapes that are from the following specific Visio stencils:
  • Furniture
  • User-created symbol shapes

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, create a new stencil that contains shapes that are less complex. For example, use a simple rectangle instead of using spline curves.
