Zoo Tycoon: You receive the "Not a Microsoft Zoo Tycoon saved game" error message when you open a saved game (873210)

SYMPTOMSWhen you try to open a saved game in any one of the Microsoft Zoo Tycoon games listed in the "Applies To" section, you may receive the following error message: Not a Microsoft Zoo Tycoon saved game. CAUSEThis problem may occur if either of the following conditions is true: - The installation of Zoo Tycoon has been corrupted.
- The saved game file has been corrupted.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, use the following methods in the order presented. Method 1: Reinstall Zoo TycoonNote Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
- Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- In the list of installed programs, click Zoo Tycoon, and then click Add/Remove.
- Click Uninstall, and then click OK.
Do not click to select the Check if you want to remove saved games, snapshots, and any Zoo Tycoon items check box. - After the program is removed, insert the Zoo Tycoon CD into the CD drive or the DVD drive.
If the Zoo Tycoon Setup program does not start automatically, click Start, click Run, type cd-rom
:\setup.exe , and then click OK. In this example, cd-rom
is the drive letter of the CD or DVD drive. - Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to install Zoo Tycoon.
- After the game is installed, start Zoo Tycoon, and then open the saved game.
If the problem continues to occur, go to Method 2. Method 2: Remove saved games- Start Zoo Tycoon.
- Click Load Saved Game.
- Right-click the game that you want to remove, and then click Delete.
- Click Cancel to close the Open dialog box.
