You cannot replay a PowerPoint 2002 or PowerPoint 2003 online broadcast when the broadcast files are saved locally on your Windows XP Service Pack 2-based computer (873208)

SYMPTOMSAfter you record a Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 online broadcast or a Microsoft PowerPoint 2002 online broadcast, when you click Replay Broadcast to view the broadcast, you receive the following message in the Microsoft Internet Explorer Information Bar:To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer. Click here for options.If you follow these steps, the Microsoft PowerPoint presentation does not replay in the right pane: - Click the Information Bar, and then click Allow Blocked Content.
- When you are prompted to continue, click OK, and then click Replay Broadcast.
CAUSEThis issue occurs because the Local Machine Zone Lockdown feature is enabled. By default, Internet Explorer uses the Local Machine Zone Lockdown feature when you install Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2).WORKAROUNDTo work around this issue if you work in a network environment, specify a network file server location to save the broadcast files to when you create the online broadcast. To do this, follow these steps: - Open the PowerPoint presentation that you want to save as an online broadcast.
- On the Slide Show menu, point to Online Broadcast, and then click Record and Save a Broadcast.
- Click Settings.
- In the File location section of the Presenter tab, type a network location in the Save broadcast files in box by using the following format:
- Click OK.
- Record your broadcast.
- When you finish recording the broadcast, click Replay Broadcast.
Internet Explorer starts. - Click Replay Broadcast again.
The broadcast replays as expected. - To replay the broadcast again, follow these steps:
- On the View menu, click Refresh, or click Refresh on the toolbar.
- Click Replay Broadcast.
Note To view the broadcast multiple times, click Refresh every time before you click Replay Broadcast so that Internet Explorer does not pull the files from the local cache.
