You cannot enter your password to exit hibernation on a Tablet PC (873149)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition
- Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005
SYMPTOMSWhen you wake Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition from hibernation, you cannot
enter your password through the Tablet PC Input Panel unless
you tap the SHIFT key on the Input Panel more than one time. Sometimes, you
cannot enter your password at all, and you have to restart the Tablet
PC.CAUSEThis problem occurs when one of the following conditions is
true: - When you used the SHIFT key on
the dock keyboard to enable the Hibernate button in the Turn off computer
dialog box, your Tablet PC was docked.
- You tapped the SHIFT key on the Input Panel to enable the
Hibernate button in the Turn off computer dialog box.
When either condition is true, the SHIFT key remains
pressed. When you wake the Tablet PC, the key remains pressed, and
you cannot tap in your password. WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, use the physical
keyboard on your Tablet PC to type your password. If your Tablet PC does not
have a physical keyboard, use an external keyboard to type your
password.STATUSMicrosoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
in the "Applies to" section.
