When you use the Microsoft Office Live Meeting Add-in for Microsoft PowerPoint to export a Microsoft PowerPoint 97 for Windows presentation to the PlaceWare presentation format in Live Meeting, or when you upload a PowerPoint 97 for Windows file to the Conference Center in Live Meeting, you may receive the following error message:
Slide (unknown member): Failed. [-2147188160]
RESOLUTION
If the problem occurs on the first GIF slide in the presentation, the GIF filter for PowerPoint 97 for Windows may not be installed. To resolve this problem, run the Microsoft PowerPoint Setup program to install the HTML tools.
PowerPoint 97 for Windows may not have sufficient memory to export the presentation, especially on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows 98. To determine whether sufficient memory is available, use the Windows System Monitor tool. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Programs, and then click Accessories.
- Click System Tools, and then click System Monitor.
If you do not have sufficient memory available, use one of the following methods:
- Export the presentation on a different computer, preferably a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP, or break up the presentation into smaller files.
- Try to free memory. To do this, quit all the other programs that are running.
Because the export engine in PowerPoint 97 for Windows uses up memory, you can recover this memory on a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer. To do this, restart PowerPoint 97 for Windows. If you are using Windows 98 or earlier, restart your computer.
PowerPoint 97 for Windows does not always export certain graphics objects that are grouped. If you find that the export failed because of a particular graphic object on a particular slide, try to ungroup the graphic object by using the
Draw menu in PowerPoint 97 for Windows. You may have to repeatedly ungroup the object. If PowerPoint 97 for Windows prompts you to convert the graphic object to a Microsoft Office drawing object, click
Yes. Sometimes you can eliminate the problem if you re-create the graphic object.
You may not have sufficient disk space for the exported file. Additionally, directly uploading a PowerPoint 97 for Windows presentation to the Conference Center requires additional free disk space in your Microsoft Windows system's temporary folder. Typically, this folder is the C:\WINDOWS\TEMP folder. To resolve this problem, try to export the file to a local hard disk instead of to a network volume or to a floppy disk.
