FIX: Managed C++ project compiler may return error messages in Visual Studio .NET 2003 (872945)

SYMPTOMS

A Managed C++ project compiler may return error messages in Visual Studio .NET 2003. The error messages are similar to the following:

Error message 1
c:\temp\hotfix\AttribBug\windows-compiler-bug\bug-demo\DemoClass1.h(725) : error C2337: 'System::Runtime::::InAttribute' : attribute not found; it is neither a built-in nor a custom attribute that is accessible in the current namespace
Error message 2
c:\temp\hotfix\AttribBug\windows-compiler-bug\bug-demo\DemoClass1.h(725) : error C3319: 'System::Runtime::InteropServices::OutAttribute': attribute cannot be repeated

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
