Office 2003 SP1 fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.

Values change to "#VALUE!" when you press CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+F9 to recalculate a range in your workbook

When you press CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+F9 to recalculate a range in your workbook that contains multiple LINEST formulas that reference the same range, the values change to the following:
#VALUE!


Excel 2003 stops responding if you switch to another program while the "cell validation" dialog box is open

If you have a worksheet that requires "cell validation", and you switch to a different program while the "cell validation" dialog box is open, Excel 2003 may stop responding (hang) and any other program that is running may stop responding (hang).


Subtotals or grand totals may be incorrect when a pivot table calculates any form of the VAR function, the VARP function, the STDEV function, or the STDEVP function

When a pivot table that contains subtotals or grand totals is calculating any form of the following functions, the subtotals or the grand totals may be incorrect:
  • VAR
  • VARP
  • STDEV
  • STDEVP


#NUM is returned when a HYPGEOMDIST formula returns an incorrect value

When a HYPGEOMDIST formula returns an incorrect value or a value that is not valid, instead of returning #VALUE as in earlier versions of Microsoft Excel, Excel 2003 returns #NUM.

Note #NUM and #VALUE are error messages that appear in the cell that contains the formula when the result of the formula is not valid.


NORMSDIST function may return incorrect values that are more than seven decimal places

When you use the NORMSDIST function, you may receive incorrect values that are more than seven decimal places.


Excel 2003 menus and toolbars appear in the designer window when you edit an Excel 2003 chart in the Visual Studio Designer

When you right-click an Excel 2003 chart to edit it in the Visual Studio Designer, Excel 2003 menus and toolbars may appear in the designer window.


"Cell validation" error message if you have a worksheet that requires "cell validation" and you type an invalid value for the "cell validation"

If you have a worksheet that requires "cell validation", and you type an invalid value for the "cell validation", you receive a "cell validation" error message. If you click Retry, and then you switch to a different program while the "cell validation" dialog box is open, both Excel 2003 and any other program that is running may stop responding (hang).


Error messages or Excel 2003 stops responding when you publish to a secure Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services server

When you try to publish to a secure Windows SharePoint Services server, Excel 2003 may appear to stop responding for a long time, and then you receive an "Unknown error" error message or a "Cannot connect to the server... " error message.
