An ASP.NET application may quit unexpectedly if the processor load increases to 100 percent (872801)

SYMPTOMS

When you are running a Microsoft ASP.NET application, the application may quit unexpectedly (crash) if the processor load increases to 100 percent.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when a computer that is running ASP.NET experiences an increased load on the processor. If the processor load reaches 100 percent capacity, the ASP.NET application worker process (Aspnet_wp.exe) may restart repeatedly until the processor load decreases.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next version of Microsoft Visual Studio .NET that contains this hotfix.
