SYMPTOMS

When you perform a system state backup on a Microsoft Windows 2000-based domain controller, the backup may fail and the Backup.log file for the backup may not be complete.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the host name for the domain controller is longer than 15 characters. A network basic input/output system (NetBIOS) computer name must be 15 characters or less.
