You may receive a "No such interface supported" or an "InvalidCastException" error message when you try to start Microsoft CRM (872588)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to start Microsoft Business Solutions CRM, you may receive one of the following error messages in the event log or in the stack trace files:
  • No such interface supported.
  • InvalidCastException

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
  • Microsoft CRM initiates ADODB calls by using old or corrupted Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) to a computer that is running Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Blackberry Enterprise services are installed on the Microsoft CRM server.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, you can stop all Blackberry Enterprise services on the Microsoft CRM server. To stop the services, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc in the Open field, and then click OK. The Services window opens.
  2. Locate all the Blackberry services that are installed and that are started.
  3. Stop all the services that you located. To stop each service, right-click the service, and then click Stop.
  4. Upgrade the MDAC components to the latest version. To download the MDAC components, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
