The version number that is in Site Settings is not updated to 6.0.2.6361 after you install Windows SharePoint Services Service Pack 1 (871149)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services
SYMPTOMSAfter you install Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services Service Pack 1 (SP1), you may find that the version number that is listed in Site Settings is not updated to the version number that is for Windows SharePoint Services SP1.
The version number that is listed in Site Settings is 6.0.2.5530 instead of being version number 6.0.2.6361 for Windows SharePoint Services SP1. 6.0.2.5530 is the version number of the original release version of Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services.
CAUSEThis issue may occur if you install Windows SharePoint Services SP1 on the server before you create the configuration database and before you extend a virtual server with Windows SharePoint Services. Although the files are updated, Windows SharePoint Services SP1 is not completely updated on the server. Therefore, when you extend the virtual server after Windows SharePoint Services SP1 is already installed, the version number that is listed in Site Settings is not updated. RESOLUTION To resolve this issue, use the Stsadm.exe command-line tool to force an upgrade that will update the Site Settings version. To do this, follow these steps: - Click Start, click Run, type cmd in the Open box, and then click OK.
- At the command prompt, type the following lines, pressing ENTER after each line:
cd /d %commonprogramfiles%\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\60\Bin stsadm -o upgrade -forceupgrade - Type exit to quit Command Prompt.
