SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade your current version of Microsoft Outlook Express to Microsoft Outlook Express version 6.0, and then you try to start the program, you are prompted to insert the Microsoft Office 2000 CD-ROM. Additionally, you may receive the following error message:
The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps.

Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WAB\WAB4

  3. In the right pane, locate and then click the UseOutlook registry entry.
  4. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
  5. In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.
  6. Quit Registry Editor.
  7. Restart Outlook Express.
