SYMPTOMSWhen you try to perform a backup operation on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer, you receive the following error message: The device reported an error on a request to MS_UpdateNtmsOmidInfo
Error reported: 5
If you use the Oleview.exe tool to create a Removable Storage Media Label Library (MLL) class instance, you may receive the following error message: CoGetClassObject failed.

CAUSEThis issue may occur if the Allow service to interact with desktop check box is selected in the remote procedure call (RPC) service.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, clear the Allow service to interact with desktop check box in the RPC service. To do this, follow these steps: - Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Services.
- In the right pane, locate and then click Remote Procedure Call (RPC).
- On the Action menu, click Properties.
- Click the Log On tab, click to clear the Allow service to interact with desktop check box, and then click OK.
- Quit Services.
- Restart your computer.
