You receive a "The separator page does not exist" error message when you add a separator page in your Printer Properties dialog box (870664)

SYMPTOMSWhen you add a separator page in your Printer Properties dialog box, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following: The separator page does not exist. CAUSEThis problem may occur if the archive bit on the separator page file is not set.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, set the archive bit on the separator page file. To do this, follow these steps: Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Microsoft Windows XP- Click Start, click Search, and then click All Files and folders.
- In the All or part of the file name box, type .sep.
- In the Look in drop-down list, click the drive where your separator page files are stored.
Note By default, separator page files are stored in the SystemRoot\System32 folder, where SystemRoot is your Windows installation folder. - Click Search.
- In the search results list, right-click the file that you want to add as a separator page, and then click Properties.
- Click Advanced.
- Under Archive and Index attributes, click to select the File is ready for archiving check box, and then click OK two times.
- Close the Search Results window.
- Add the separator page in the Printer Properties dialog box.
Microsoft Windows 2000 Server and Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional- Click Start, point to Search, and then click For Files or folders.
- In the Search for files or folders named box, type .sep.
- In the Look in drop-down list, click the drive where your separator page files are stored.
Note By default, separator page files are stored in the SystemRoot\System32 folder, where SystemRoot is your Windows installation folder. - Click Search Now.
- In the search results list, right-click the file that you want to add as a separator page, and then click Properties.
- Click to select the Archive check box, and then click OK.
- Close the Search Results window.
- Add the separator page in the Printer Properties dialog box.
