Money 2004: You receive a run-time error message when you start Money (870567)


The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you start Microsoft Money 2004, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:
Runtime Error! Program C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money\System\msmoney.exe This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the following conditions are true:
  • One or more Microsoft Windows system files are missing or are corrupted.
  • Your Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) installation is corrupted.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, use one of the following methods.

Extract the required Microsoft Windows system files to your hard disk

Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
  1. Insert your Microsoft Windows XP CD-ROM into your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
  2. Click Start, click Run, type msconfig, and then click OK.
  3. Click Expand a file.
  4. In the File to restore box, type Msxml3.dll.
  5. In the Restore from box, type cdrom:\i386, where cdrom is the letter of your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
  6. In the Save file in box, type the following, where drive is the hard disk where Microsoft Windows is installed:

    drive:\windows\system32

  7. Click Expand.
  8. Click Expand a file.
  9. In the File to restore box, type Rsaenh.dll.
  10. In the Restore from box, type cdrom:\i386, where cdrom is the letter of your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
  11. In the Save file in box, type the following, where drive is the hard disk where Microsoft Windows is installed:

    drive:\windows\system32

  12. Click Expand.
  13. To extract the Rsaenh.dll file to your hard disk, repeat steps 2 through 7. In step 4, type Rsaenh.dll in the File to restore box.
  14. Restart your computer, and then start Money 2004.
