File Error when Starting Works Tutorial (87561)

SUMMARY

When you attempt to start the tutorial in Works for Windows, the following error message may be displayed:
File Error
When you choose the OK button, the following message is displayed:
Not enough memory to run tutorial
When you choose the OK button, Works for Windows returns to the place where you were before you tried to start the tutorial.

If you check Program Manager for available memory, it may show sufficient memory (2 MB or more). You may also find that reinstallation of Works for Windows does not correct this problem.

You may be able to work around this problem by using the following steps:

  1. Check the MSWORKS.CBT subdirectory for any zero-length files. Specifically check the files WIZZY1.LSN, WNWORKS.CBT, and WNWORKS.LES.
  2. If any of these files exist with a size of zero (0) bytes, completely delete the MSWORKS.CBT subdirectory, and reinstall Works for Windows.
This problem may occur during installation of Works for Windows even if no errors are displayed. When Setup decompresses a file during installation, the file is first created and given a file length of zero bytes. The information is then decompressed and filled into this open file. Only when Setup is finished is the file closed.
