You click ''Add this meeting to your Outlook calendar" in Outlook 2003 and the text that displays in another program is garbled (867840)

SYMPTOMS

If you click the add this meeting to your Outlook calendar hyperlink that is in an e-mail invitation in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, Microsoft Office Live Meeting opens Microsoft Internet Explorer or another program like Microsoft Office Word 2003.The text that displays is garbled.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when your Web browser has lost the file association for the iCalendar file type (.ics),

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem,re-associate the iCalendar file type with Outlook.

To do this, follow these steps::
  1. Close all programs and open Control Panel by clicking Start, Settings and then Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel, double-click Folder Options.
  3. In the Folder Options dialog box, click the File Types tab.
  4. Search and then select the iCalendar file type.
  5. Under Registered file types, locate and then click .ICS.
  6. Under Details of 'ICS' extension, click Change.
  7. In the Open with dialog box, locate and then click Microsoft Office Outlook. Then, click OK.
  8. In the Folder Options dialog box, click Close.
