The percentage complete always equals zero for administrative tasks when you create an administrative project in Project Professional 2003 (867835)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office Project Professional 2003

SYMPTOMS

When you create an administrative project in Microsoft Office Project Professional 2003, the percentage complete always equals zero for administrative tasks.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because administrative tasks in Project Professional 2003 are not intended to have a specific start and end date. Instead, administrative tasks are categories of non-working time, such as vacation or sick leave. Because administrative tasks do not have a predefined schedule, the percentage complete column for an administrative task always equals zero.

MORE INFORMATION

This problem occurs when you add time worked in the Task view and expect the percentage complete to change to a non-zero result. For an administrative task, the % Work Complete column remains zero.
