Host and guest clocks are synchronized in Virtual Server 2005 (867585)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Virtual Server 2005
SYMPTOMSWhen you change the guest clock to a different time on a virtual machine in Microsoft Virtual Server 2005, the guest clock time reverts to the host clock time after a short time.RESOLUTION- In the Virtual Machines pane, click Configure, and then select the virtual machine that you want to change.
- In the Configuration pane, click Virtual Machine Additions.
- Click to clear the Host time synchronization check box, and then click OK.
Note You cannot enable or disable host time synchronization when the virtual machine is running or is in a saved state. The virtual machine must be turned off to select or to clear Host time synchronization. MORE INFORMATIONWhen you select Host time synchronization, the guest clock time is synchronized with the host clock time. If you change the time on the guest clock, the time is not changed on the host clock. The guest clock is reset back to the host clock time after a short time. When you change the host clock time, the guest clock time re-synchronizes to the host clock after a short time.
Note Time zones do not change synchronization from the host to the guest. If the guest and host computers are set to different time zones, both the host and the guest will still display the same time.
