Err Msg: Cannot Find OLECLI.DLL (86873)

SUMMARY

The error message "Cannot find <filename.DLL>" is displayed when you start Microsoft Works version 2.0 for Windows if any of the following files are missing or have been corrupted or renamed:

OLECLI.DLL
OLESVR.DLL
SHELL.DLL

If you are running Microsoft Windows version 3.0, reinstall Works for Windows to correct this problem. If you are running Microsoft Windows operating system version 3.1, which has newer versions of these files, the files can be expanded from the Windows 3.1 disks into the Windows System directory.

MORE INFORMATION

If you completely erase and reinstall Windows 3.0 and do not reinstall Works for Windows, the following error message is displayed when you attempt to run Works:
Change Disk
Cannot find OLECLI.DLL, Please insert in drive A:
After choosing the Cancel button, a similar message is displayed for the files OLESVR.DLL and SHELL.DLL, followed by an Application Execution Error message.

With Windows 3.1, the error message takes the following form:
File Error
Cannot find OLECLI.DLL
The only option is Close. When you choose the Close button, an Application Execution Error message is displayed.

OLECLI.DLL, OLESVR.DLL, and SHELL.DLL are dynamic link library (DLL) files contained in the Windows System directory. These files are installed by Works for Windows and Windows 3.1 during Setup.
