SUMMARY

The date number format is listed incorrectly in Microsoft Excel when the Country is configured for "Canada [English]" in Windows version 3.x or "English (Canadian)" in Windows 95 and Windows NT. The format displays as jj/mm/aa instead of dd/mm/yy.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

Windows 3.x and Microsoft Excel 4.0

  1. Open the Control Panel.
  2. Choose the International icon.
  3. Choose Country and change it to Canada [English] and choose OK.
  4. Open Microsoft Excel.
  5. From the Format menu, choose Number.
  6. Select Date from the Category list.

Windows 95 and Microsoft Excel 7.0

  1. On the Start menu, point to Settings and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Regional Settings icon.
  3. In the list of countries, select "English (Canadian)". Click OK. If prompted to restart Windows, click No.
  4. In Microsoft Excel, click Cells on the Format menu.
  5. Select the Number tab.
  6. In the list of categories, click "Custom".
  7. Scroll down in the list of format Types.
The incorrect date format will be displayed (jj/mm/aa).
