- Microsoft Windows 3.11
This article was previously published under Q85463 SYMPTOMS
When you insert a packaged .WAV file into version 2.0 of Word for Windows
running in Microsoft Windows version 3.1, you may receive a general
protection (GP) fault when playing the sound.
WORKAROUND
Instead of using Packager to insert the .WAV file into a document,
insert the sound directly.
- Run Word for Windows.
- From the Insert menu, choose Object.
- Choose Sound and choose the OK button.
- Sound Recorder will start.
- From the Edit menu, choose Insert File.
- Load one of the sample .WAV files in the Windows directory.
- From the File menu, choose Exit.
- When prompted to Exit and Update, choose Yes.
The sound object (.WAV) is now inserted into the document.
