SUMMARY

The versions of Microsoft Project listed above are capable of opening more than one window on a single project file. Such windows are identified by the window name followed by ":x", where x is the instance of the window.

If more than one window is open on a file, and a workspace is saved, the workspace will not restore multiple windows on a single file when the workspace is opened. The workspace will open a file with only one window active on the file.

MORE INFORMATION

Example

  1. Open a file in Microsoft Project.
  2. From the Window menu, choose New Window.
  3. Select the name of the file that you have opened from the list of projects. Click the OK button.
  4. Project will create a new window on the file that you have selected. For example, if your project file is named "DATABASE.MPP," you will now have two windows, one titled "Database:1," and the second titled "Database:2."
  5. From the File menu, choose Save Workspace.
  6. Save the workspace file by accepting the default file name ("RESUME.MPW" for Microsoft Project for Windows, or "Resume Microsoft Project" for Microsoft Project for the Macintosh) and clicking the OK button.
  7. Exit Microsoft Project.
  8. Restart Microsoft Project, and open the workspace file that you saved in step 6.
Note that Microsoft Project opens your project file, but that only one window has been opened.
