This article describes the FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions issue that is fixed in the FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions for Windows Server 2003 hotfix package that is dated May 18, 2004.

The following issue is fixed in this hotfix package, but it was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
- When you publish from one Windows Server 2003 server to another Windows Server 2003 server (such as a development server to a production server) that contains a destination Web that has an identically structured root Web as the source Web, subwebs that are virtual directories may disappear from the destination server on Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS).

Hotfix information
Virtual Directories can disappear when a site is published from one server to another. To prevent this problem, you must apply a hotfix.
Note If you have an existing directory that has disappeared, the directory will not appear in the Internet Information Server MMC after you apply this hotfix.
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
