The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP1
  • Microsoft Windows XP 64-Bit Edition Version 2002 SP1

SYMPTOMS

When the following conditions are true, user policies from one Active Directory directory service forest are applied to a user when the user logs on to another forest:
  • Two Active Directory forests exist. For example, forest A and forest B exist.
  • A two-way trust is configured between forest A and forest B.
When the user from forest A logs on to a computer in forest B, user policies from forest A that apply to the user in forest A are applied when the user logs on to forest B. This problem occurs on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 1.
