FIX: The default printer for the RDP terminal client is not set as the default printer in a terminal session in Microsoft Windows CE .NET 4.2 (843041)

SYMPTOMS

The default printer for the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) terminal client is not set as the default printer in a terminal session. This problem occurs in Microsoft Windows CE .NET 4.2. You notice this problem after you connect to a terminal session on either a terminal server or on a desktop host. Either the default printer of the host remains as the default printer, or one of the other printers on the RDP client terminal is set as the default printer.

CAUSE

The printer management code for the RDP terminal client in Windows CE .NET 4.2 does not correctly mark the default printer for the terminal client. This problem occurs when the printers are identified to the host terminal session.

RESOLUTION

Software update information

Prerequisites

This update is supported only if all previously issued updates for this product have also been installed.

Restart requirement

After you install this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole operating system. To perform a clean build of the operating system, follow these steps:
  1. On the Build menu, click Clean.
  2. On the Build menu, click Build Platform.
You do not have to restart your computer after you apply this update.
