The SNMPMgrClose function may take one second to run in Windows Server 2003 (842932)

SYMPTOMS

When you run a Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) management program on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer, the SNMPMgrClose SNMP Management API function may take one second to run.

This time delay may cause performance problems for Windows Server 2003 SNMP programs that frequently call the SNMPMgrOpen function and the SNMPMgrClose function.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows Server 2003. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use one additional SNMPMgrOpen function on the local host for each SNMP management program. Then, match this additional SNMPMgrOpen function to the SNMPMgrClose function during SNMP management program shutdown.
