You cannot manually create a new Exchange Server e-mail account in Entourage 2004 for Mac (842881)

SYMPTOMSYou cannot manually create a new Microsoft Exchange e-mail
account in Microsoft Entourage 2004 for Mac.
For example, if you click
New in the Accounts dialog box, and then
click Configure account manually, you receive the dialog box
that is for creating a new Post Office Protocol (POP) e-mail account.
If you close that dialog box, and then
click
New in the Accounts dialog box again, you receive the New
Account dialog box that is for creating a new POP, Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP), or Hotmail
e-mail account. However, you cannot create a new Exchange e-mail account in the New
Account dialog box. WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem and create a new Exchange e-mail
account, follow these steps:
- Click Accounts on the
Tools menu.
- Click the Exchange tab.
- Click New.
- If you do not receive the New Account dialog box, go to step 5. If you receive the New Account dialog box,
click Assist me.
- Click Configure account
manually.
You can now fill in the information to create a new Exchange e-mail
account. STATUSMicrosoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
in the "Applies to" section.
