SYMPTOMSYour Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer crashes, and you receive a stop error message that is similar to the following: Stop 0x00000050 (parameter1, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4) PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA You may experience these symptoms if one of the following conditions is true: - You are running the Japanese version of Windows Server 2003 or your Windows Server 2003-based computer is configured to use Japanese for non-Unicode programs. The computer unexpectedly crashes when you run a command at the command prompt that contains kanji characters.
- Your Windows Server 2003-based computer is configured as a print server. The computer unexpectedly crashes when the server processes documents in the print queue.
CAUSEThis problem occurs because Windows Server 2003 incorrectly processes the size of the buffer that stores character information. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, apply the hotfix that is mentioned in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article: 904779 A Windows Server 2003-based computer stops responding, and you receive a "Stop 0x000000F4" error message
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies To" section. This problem was first corrected in Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1.
