"STOP 0x0000001E" error in the Win32k.sys device driver on a Windows 2000-based print server (842584)

SYMPTOMS

Your Microsoft Windows 2000-based server may quit unexpectedly. Additionally, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:
STOP: 0x0000001E (Parameter, Parameter, Parameter, Parameter)
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
Address Address base at Address, Date Stamp Date_Stamp - win32k.sys
These symptoms typically occur on a computer that you use as a print server or in another role that also demands a heavy load of font operations.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if a race condition develops when the Win32k.sys device driver deletes an in-memory font structure.
