The animations for the assistant are turned on in Office 2003 programs when you click "Show the Office Assistant" on the Help menu after you click to clear the "Menu and window animation" check box (842530)

SYMPTOMS

If you click to clear the Menu and window animation check box and then start a Microsoft Office 2003 program in a terminal services session, when you click Show the Office Assistant on the Help menu, the Microsoft Office Assistant starts and the animations for the assistant are turned on.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, change the Office Assistant feature to Not Available in the Office 2003 Setup program. To do this, follow these steps on the computer that is running terminal services:
  1. Click Start, point to Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
  2. Click your installation of Office 2003 in the Currently installed programs list, and then click Change.
  3. In the Office 2003 Setup program, click Add or remove features, and then click Next.
  4. Click to select the Choose advanced customization of applications check box, and then click Next.
  5. Expand Office Shared Features.
  6. Click the icon for Office Assistant, and then click Not Available.
  7. Click Update.
Note If you are a network administrator, you can also use the Custom Installation Wizard (CIW) to set the Office Assistant feature to Not Available.

To clear the Menu and window animation check box on the Experience tab in Remote Desktop Connection, follow these steps:
  1. Start Remote Desktop Connection.

    To do this, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to Communications, and then click Remote Desktop Connection.
  2. Click Options.
  3. On the Experience tab, click to clear the Menu and window animation check box.
