The SHIFT key on the Tablet PC Input Panel tool does not respond after you resume from the Hibernate state (842515)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition
SYMPTOMSThe SHIFT key on the Tablet PC Input Panel tool does not respond after
you resume from the Hibernate state. This behavior occurs after you use the tablet pen to put the Tablet PC in the Hibernate state. CAUSEThis problem occurs because the on-screen logon
keyboard does not update internal variables. The internal variables keep
track of the keyboard state when the Tablet PC is put in
the Hibernate state.WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, use one of the following methods: - Connect a physical keyboard to the
Tablet PC, and then press the SHIFT key on the keyboard. You can expect to successfully enter
your password and log on.
- Immediately after you select the Hibernate state, click SHIFT on Input Panel. This action reverses the SHIFT control. You must click SHIFT within several seconds, before Input Panel is no longer available and before the Tablet PC hibernates.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
