SUMMARYThis article discusses an issue that occurs where the Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 Setup program stops when the "Loading component 19 of 40" message is displayed on the screen. Additionally, error messages are logged to the Errorlog.txt file and the Eventlog.txt file, and you may receive "Access Denied" error messages when you try to access certain components on the computer. This issue may occur if the default group membership settings for the Administrator account were modified on the computer, and the Administrator account is a member of the Domain Guests group and of the Guests group. To resolve this issue, configure the group membership settings for the Administrator account to use the default settings, and then run the Setup program to complete the installation of Windows Small Business Server 2003. SYMPTOMSWhen you run the Setup program to install Windows Small Business Server 2003 on your computer, the operating system is installed successfully. However, during the part of the Setup process that installs Windows Small Business Server 2003 tools and programs, the Setup program stops after you receive the following error message: Loading component 19 of 40 When you view the Errorlog.txt file, you see entries that are similar to the following: [Date,Time] setup.exe: [2] Run(): RunLoadSetup(), an exception has
occured.
[Date,Time] setup.exe: [2] continue setup link may not work properly.
Please relaunch via add remove programs or from CD.
[Date,Time] setup.exe: [2] Run(): RunLoadSetup(), an exception has
occured. When you view the Eventlog.txt file, you see entries that are similar to the following: [Date,Time] Setup.exe: in InternalRegisterSetupService()
[Date,Time] Setup.exe: LoadDatabaseValues(), SetupSDB->GetPropertyValue
failure (core disk requirement) [Date,Time] setup.exe: ***ERRORLOG EVENT*** : Run() : RunLoadSetup(), an
exception has occured.
Note In these entries, the word "occured" is a misspelling for the word "occurred." You may also receive an "Access Denied" error message if you try to do one or more of the following: CAUSEThis issue may occur if you modify the group membership settings for the Administrator account to use settings that are different from the default settings. For example, this issue occurs if the Administrator account is a member of the Domain Guests group and the Guests group. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, configure the group membership settings for the Administrator account to use the default settings. Remove the Administrator account from the Domain Guests group, the Guests group, and any other groups that the Administrator account is not a default member of. After you do this, run the Setup program to continue the installation of Windows Small Business Server 2003. To configure the default group membership settings for the Administrator account, use one of the following methods: Method 1: Use the Active Directory Users and Computers tool- Start the Active Directory Users and Computers tool.
- Expand Users.
- Right-click the Administrator account, and then click Properties.
- Click the Member Of tab.
- In the Member of list, do the following:
- Remove the Domain Guests group. To do this, click Domain Guests, click Remove, and then click Yes when you are prompted to confirm the removal.
- Remove the Guests group. To do this, click Guests, click Remove, and then click Yes when you are prompted to confirm the removal.
- Remove any other groups that are displayed on the Members Of tab and that the Administrator account is not a default member of. The list of groups that the Administrator account is a default member of is listed in the "More Information" section. To remove a group, click the name of the group, click Remove, and then click Yes when you are prompted to confirm the removal.
Note We recommend that you view the Members tab of the Domain Guests group and the Guests group to make sure that the list of members does not include any group that contains the Administrator account. For example, because the Domain Users group and the Domain Admins group contain the Administrator account, remove the Domain Users group and the Domain Admins group from the Domain Guests group or from the Guests group.
- Click OK, and then click Exit on the File menu.
- Log off, and then use the Administrator account to log on to Windows.
- Run the Setup program to install Windows Small Business Server 2003.
Method 2: Use the net group command and the net localgroup command Use this method if you receive an "Access Denied" error message when you try to start the Active Directory Users and Computers tool or when you try to view the properties of the Administrator account. - Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
- Remove the Administrator account from the Domain Guests group and from the Guests group. To do this, type the following lines at the command prompt. Press ENTER after each line.
net group "domain guests" administrator /delete net localgroup "guests" administrator /delete - Type exit, and then press ENTER.
- Quit all programs that are running on the computer, log off, and then use the Administrator account to log on to Windows.
- Start the Active Directory Users and Computers tool.
- Right-click the Administrator account, and then click Properties.
- Click the Member Of tab.
- Remove any other groups that are displayed on the Members Of tab that the Administrator account is not a default member of. The list of groups that the Administrator account is a default member of is listed in the "More Information" section. To remove a group, click the name of the group, click Remove, and then click Yes when you are prompted to confirm the removal.
Note We recommend that you view the Members tab of the Domain Guests group and the Guests group to make sure that the list of members does not include any group that contains the Administrator account. Method 3: Use the at command and System account permissions to start the Active Directory Users and Computers toolUse this method if you cannot change the Administrator group membership by using either Method 1 or Method 2. To use the at command and System account permissions to start the Active Directory Users and Computers tool, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
- Type the following line at the command prompt, and then press ENTER, where Time is the time in 24-hour time format and where the time is 1 or 2 minutes later than the current time:
at Time /interactive /next: cmd.exe For example, if the current time that appears in the notification at the far right of the taskbar is 3:03 P.M., type 15:04 for the Time parameter in the at command line. When you do this, the command is scheduled to run at 3:04 P.M. - When the new Command Prompt window opens, type the following, and then press ENTER: The Active Directory Users and Computers tool starts and runs with System account permissions.
- In the left pane of the Active Directory Users and Computers tool, expand Users.
- Right-click the Administrator account, and then click Properties.
- Click the Member Of tab.
- In the Member of list, follow these steps:
- Remove the Domain Guests group. To do this, click Domain Guests, click Remove, and then click Yes when you are prompted to confirm the removal.
