Release version number

MDAC 2.6 SP2 was originally released as a part of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 2 (SP2) (2.62.7926.1) in October 2001. This release, the MDAC 2.6 SP2 Refresh (2.62.7400.1), was released in April 2002. The MDAC 2.6 SP2 Refresh is available for download on the Internet.

Release function

This release provides, directly to the public, the same version of MDAC that is included with Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 2. Q5: Do all providers support the Record object?

A5: No. Currently, only the Microsoft OLE DB provider for Internet Publishing, Microsoft Exchange 2000, and Microsoft OLE DB provider for SQL Server support the Record object.

Q6: Can ADO consume any format of XML?

A6: No. Currently, the Recordset object can only be created from XML that is formatted in the adPersistXML format.

Known issues with the MDAC 2.6 SP2 Refresh (2.62.7400.1)

This MDAC release has the following known issues.

MDAC

  • If a clustered server is running SQL Server 6.5 or SQL Server 7.0, connectivity problems occur in the cluster if you install MDAC 2.6 on that server. There is no workaround. Do not install MDAC 2.6 if the clustered server is running SQL Server 6.5 or SQL Server 7.0.
  • The version of MDAC 2.6 SP2 that is included with SQL Server 2000 SP2 is 2.62.7926.1, but the version of MDAC 2.6 SP2 that is released in the Web site is 2.62.7400.1. There is no functional difference between these two products.

Setup

  • You may receive an error message when you upgrade from MDAC 2.62 to MDAC 2.70. To avoid this problem, install either the MDAC 2.6 Service Pack 2 Refresh (2.62.7400.1) or the MDAC 2.70 Refresh (2.70.9001.0). To download, visit the following Web site:
