A mailbox-enabled user in Active Directory is not replicated to an Exchange Server 5.5 group by the Active Directory Connector (841653)

SYMPTOMS

When you mailbox-enable a user account in the Active Directory directory service, the mailbox is created in Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5, but the mailbox is not added to the correct Exchange Server 5.5 distribution list membership to match the Active Directory group membership.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the Active Directory Connector (ADC) does not replicate group information when a change is made to a user in Active Directory and no change is made to the Active Directory group.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, manually make a change directly to the Active Directory group or groups where the new mailbox-enabled user is a member. For example, add a note to the Active Directory group properties. To do this, follow these steps:

Click Start, click Run, type Dsa.msc, and then click OK.
In the left pane, expand the domain that includes the Active Directory group that you want to change.
Right-click the group where the new mailbox-enabled user is a member, and then click Properties.
Under Notes, add a note, and then click OK.

Changes that you make to user accounts in Active Directory do not cause the ADC to replicate implied updates to group membership to an Exchange Server 5.5 group. When you make direct changes to the Active Directory group that contains the new mailbox-enabled user, the ADC will replicate the updated group membership to Exchange Server 5.5 groups.
