Outgoing NetMeeting calls may not work in ISA Server 2000 (841635)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000, outgoing Microsoft Windows NetMeeting calls may not work.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if one of the following conditions is true:
  • The site and content rules accept only authenticated traffic.
  • All applicable rules accept only specific users and groups.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use the protocol rules to deny unauthenticated traffic. Additionally, set the site and content rules to accept any request.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

ISA Server includes an H.323 filter that enables H.323-compliant applications, such as NetMeeting 3.0, to pass through ISA Server.
