FIX: Divide-by-zero error in the .NET Framework 1.1 (841285)

SYMPTOMS

When the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 calculates an internal value for the percentage of CPU total time that is CPU busy time, a divide-by-zero error may occur. You may notice this problem more frequently when you are running Microsoft Windows XP Media Center. If you are running Media Center when this problem occurs, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:
Media Center Host Module error occurred after waking up Stand by mode

RESOLUTION

Software update information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 service pack that contains this hotfix.
