You receive the "LINKSMMI.EXE-No Disk" error message when you start Links 2001 (841223)

- the operating system: Microsoft Windows XP
SYMPTOMSWhen you try to start Microsoft Links 2001, you may receive
the following error message: LINKSMMI.EXE-No Disk. There
is no disk in the drive. CAUSEThis issue may occur if you try to play Links 2001 on a
Microsoft Windows XP-based computer without enabling Microsoft Windows
compatibility mode.RESOLUTIONWindows compatibility mode resolves many of the most common
issues that prevent earlier versions of programs from working correctly. To run
programs in Windows compatibility mode on a Windows XP-based computer, follow
these steps:
- Right-click the Links program icon on your desktop or
right-click Start, and then click
Properties.
- Click the Compatibility tab.
- Click to select the Run this program in
compatibility mode for check box.
- Under Compatibility mode, select
Windows 98 / Windows Me.
- Click Apply, and then click
OK.
- Restart the computer, and then test the game
