How to remove file names from the most recently used list in Money 2002 and later (841213)

This article describes how to remove the file names of recently opened files from the most recently used (MRU) list on the File menu in Microsoft Money 2002 and later.

Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
To resolve this issue, modify the Windows Registry. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Quit Microsoft Money.
  2. Click Start, and then click Run.
  3. In the Open box, type Regedit, and then click OK.
  4. Locate the following registry subkey:

    My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Money

  5. Click the subkey for the version of Money that you want to modify. For example, 12.0 is the subkey for Microsoft Money 2004 and 14.0 is the subkey for Microsoft Money 2005.
  6. Under Name in the right pane, right-click MruFile0, and then click Delete.
  7. Repeat step 6 for each of the following names:
    • MruFile1
    • MruFile2
    • MruFile3
  8. On the File menu, click Exit to quit Registry Editor.
