The file prints to the Windows default printer when you try to print a spreadsheet or a database file in Works (840980)



The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you try to print a spreadsheet or a database file in Microsoft Works, the file prints to the Microsoft Windows default printer. This problem occurs even if you select a different printer in the Name box on the Print dialog page.

WORKAROUND

Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
To work around this problem, configure the printer that you want to print to as the Windows default printer. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Quit Works.
  2. Click Start, and then click Printer and Faxes.
  3. Right-click the printer that you want to set as the default printer, and then click Set as Default Printer.
  4. Click File, and then click Close.
  5. Start Works, and then print the spreadsheet or the database file.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
