STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

MORE INFORMATION

This software update changes the heap allocation code within UDFS. You can now limit the heap size, and the heap can be deallocated upon media removal. By default, these changes are not active. To enable and to configure this software update, you must add the following registry keys to the OEM platform:
  • [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\UDFS]
  • "HeapMaxSize"=dword:<MaximumHeapSize>
  • "DestroyHeapOnUnmount"=dword:<Enabled>
Note In these registry keys, <MaximumHeapSize> is the maximum heap size that you want, in kilobytes. A value of 0 means that the heap is unbounded. <Enabled> is set to 1 to enable the destruction and recreation of the whole heap when media change occurs.
