Windows Media Center Edition 2004 does not download the Program Guide after you change the download method (840825)

SYMPTOMS

Your Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004-based computer may not automatically download the Program Guide even after you have reset the Internet Connection for Media Center to download the guide when Media Center is connected to the Internet.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you select Manual download for the Program Guide when you first run the Media Center Setup program.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, set Media Center to download the Program Guide when Media Center is connected to the Internet, and then reset the Guide Lineup. To configure Media Center to automatically download the Program Guide, follow these steps:
  1. Press the Windows Media Center Start button on the Media Center remote control.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select General.
  4. Select Set up Internet Connection, and then select Next.
  5. Select Download when connected.
  6. When the wizard appears, follow the instructions that appear on the screen to reconfigure your Internet connection.
To reset the Program Guide, follow these steps:
  1. Press the Windows Media Center Start button on the Media Center remote control.
  2. Select My TV.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Select Guide.
  5. Select Reset Guide lineup.
  6. When the wizard appears, follow the instructions that appear on the screen to reconfigure the Program Guide.
