You receive a message to insert the Works 6 CD when you try to remove Works 6 (840777)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to remove Microsoft Works 6, you receive a message to insert the Works 6 CD.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if the following conditions are true:
  • Works 6 came preinstalled on your computer.
  • You are running Microsoft Windows XP.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, insert the Works 6 CD to remove the software.

If this does not resolve the issue, follow the steps in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article to run Wks6w2k.exe and Msicuu.exe to remove Works 6.
