INTRODUCTION

This article describes the default behavior in Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 where more than one user can manage a virtual machine at the same time.

MORE INFORMATION

When you create permission entries on the Virtual Server Security Properties page of the Virtual Server Administration Website program to enable other users to manage virtual machines, you may experience all the following behaviors:
  • One or more other users may access and manage the virtual machine at the same time.
  • Other users can view the management tasks that you perform when you manage a virtual machine.
  • Other users may interact with the management tasks that you perform when you manage a virtual machine. For example, if you open a dialog box in a virtual machine, another user can close that same dialog box.
This is the default behavior in Virtual Server 2005. This behavior is intended to aid you in a training environment or in a laboratory environment. However, in some scenarios, you may not want other users to view your management tasks or to be permitted to interact with the management tasks that you perform on a virtual machine.

To prevent other users from managing a virtual machine at the same time that you manage the virtual machine, you must access the virtual machine by using a Remote Desktop session or by using a Terminal Services session.
