Error message when you click Options on the Tools menu or when you start an audio recording in OneNote 2003 (840397)

SYMPTOMSYou may experience one of the following symptoms in
Microsoft Office OneNote 2003:
- When you click Options on the
Tools menu, OneNote 2003 may quit unexpectedly. When this
happens, you receive the following error message:
Microsoft Office OneNote has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. If you view the details of
the error message, you receive an error signature that is similar to the
following:

- When you start an audio recording, you may receive the
following error message:
An audio encoder file that is not
included with Microsoft Office OneNote caused a significant error to occur. To
record or play back audio notes, remove the file from your computer. For
information about which file to remove and how to remove it, visit the OneNote
2003 Support Center.
CAUSEThis problem may be caused by a third-party ripping and
encoding program that includes the LAME encoding engine.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, use one of the following methods:
- Contact your third-party ripping and encoding program
vendor for an update to the program.
- Move, rename, or delete the Lameacm.acm file from the
Windows/System32 folder.
