Internet Explorer 6 stops responding when it is started from a JScript hyperlink or from a JavaScript hyperlink in an Office document (840391)

SYMPTOMS

You have Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 installed on your computer. If you click a hyperlink in a Microsoft Office document, and the hyperlink uses JavaScript or JScript, an Internet Explorer window opens. However, Internet Explorer then stops responding, and the target of the hyperlink is not loaded.

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing.
