When you print a publication that contains one or more text boxes with border art in Microsoft Office Publisher 2003, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:
Microsoft Publisher has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you use either automatic trapping or per-object trapping when you print your publication. For information about automatic trapping and per-object trapping, see the "More Information" section.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Overprint colors

To overprint colors, you have to set up your publication for spot color or for process color.

Method 2: Use a rectangle with border art

Do not use text boxes with border art. Instead, use a text box with no border applied and a rectangle with the border art that you want under the text box.

To use automatic trapping in Publisher 2003, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, point to Commercial Printing Tools, point to Registration Settings, and then click Publication.
  2. In the Publication Registration Settings dialog box, click to select the Automatic trapping check box, choose your trapping settings, and then click OK.
To use per-object trapping, point to Commercial Printing Tools on the Tools menu, point to Registration Settings, and then click Per Object.

The Office Error Reporting dialog box appears when an error occurs that causes a fatal event in the program. The dialog box includes a button to send the information about the fatal event to Microsoft. Microsoft gathers information about these types of events in a database to try to identify the cause.
